Mateo Kovacic is on the brink of a move to Liverpool, according to reports in the British media
Liverpool are on the verge of signing Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic, according to reports in the British media.
The 18-time English champions have been heavily linked with a move for the Madrid midfielder Kovacic in recent days as Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp looks to bolster his midfield after a mixed first season at Anfield.
Croatia international Kovacic made only eight La Liga appearances for the Champions League winners last term, making a further 17 appearances from the bench for Los Blancos.
According to Tribal Football, Liverpool are on the brink of completing a £20m swoop for the Croatian midfielder in the summer transfer window.
The Reds finished as Europa League runners-up last term after a 3-1 defeat by Sevilla in Basel after an eighth-place finish in the Premier League table.
Liverpool target Kovacic moved to 11-time European champions Real Madrid in a £12m deal from Serie A side Inter Milan in 2013.
