Liverpool plotting bid to sign Porto midfielder – report

Liverpool want to sign Porto midfielder Ruben Neves this summer, say reports

Liverpool are lining up a bid to bring Porto midfielder Ruben Neves to Anfield this summer, according to reports.

Jurgen Klopp is believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings as he prepares for his first full season in charge at Anfield.

The 19-year-old Neves is believed to have a £31m release clause in his contract with the Portuguese club.

However, Portuguese newspaper Record is reporting that Klopp is keen to push through a deal to bring the highly-rated midfielder to Anfield this summer.

Neves is regarded as one of Europe’s most promising young defensive midfielders and was youngest player ever to captain a side in the Champions League.

However, despite Liverpool’s apparent interest in the player, the same newspaper story suggests that Porto will not be willing to do business for anything less than the midfielder’s current release clause.

Neves scored two goals and made four assists in 43 games last season.
