Liverpool ponder transfer bid for Mexico star – report

Liverpool could be set to make a bid to sign Mexico international Hector Herrera this summer, say reports

Liverpool could be set to hijack Napoli’s bid to sign Mexico international Hector Herrera this summer, according to reports.

The Reds have been linked with a host of players as Jurgen Klopp prepares for his first full season in charge at Anfield.

Klopp is believed to be on the lookout for a number of new recruits and Herrera has been touted as a possible target for the Merseyside outfit.

Now, Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport has claimed that Liverpool could be set to swoop in and make a move to sign Herrera, despite Napoli’s offer.

The same story says that Napoli have offered the 26-year-old a five-year contract worth €1.8m per year.

However, Napoli have only offered Porto €18m for the player and the Portuguese outfit are said to be holding out for €20m, opening the door for Liverpool to table a bid for the player.
