Liverpool ponder transfer bid to sign Argentina star – report

Liverpool are planning a summer transfer bid to sign Gabriel Mercado, according to reports

Gabriel Mercado is a summer transfer target for Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, according to reports.

The Reds have been linked with a host of players over the last few weeks as the German coach prepares for his first full season in charge of the Anfield outfit.

Klopp was in the stadium to watch the 29-year-old defender in action when Argentina played Chile in the Copa America last Tuesday.

Now, the Daily Mirror is reporting that Liverpool are planning a bid to bring the River Plate and Argentina star to Anfield.

The same newspaper report says that Klopp is keen to bring Mercado to Merseyside as he bids to shore up his defence ahead of next season.

Mercado is a right-back by trade but can also play in central defence or on the right side of midfield.
