Liverpool transfer target wants to move to Anfield, reveals club president
Piotr Zielinski is keen to join Liverpool in the summer transfer window, says Napoli president
Piotr Zielinski is keen to join Liverpool in the summer transfer window, according to Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis.
The Reds have been heavily linked with a bid to sign the Polish winger in recent days as Jurgen Klopp prepares for his first full season in charge at Anfield.
Liverpool are thought to be vying with Napoli in a battle to secure the services of the Empoli midfielder in the summer transfer window.
Now, Napoli chief De Laurentiis has claimed that the player is favouring a move to Liverpool this summer.
Speaking in an interview with Corriere dello Sport, De Laurentiis said: “I negotiated for Zielinski with the Pozzo family and we finalised every detail.
“Instead it now seems as if the player is doing everything possible to resist the move and not come here. He wants Liverpool.
“Maybe he has never been to Naples, or just loves The Beatles… If I were Zielinski, I’d run here. I’d tell him, are you not interested in playing the Champions League with Maurizio Sarri as your teacher?”
Liverpool, who are not in European competition next term, are believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this season as Klopp bids to restore the Reds to the top of English football next season.
The German coach was appointed as the successor to Brendan Rodgers at Anfield last October.
