Man United blow as Bayern Munich manager talks up Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Bayern manager Carlo Ancelotti heaps praise on Man United target Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Carlo Ancelotti has heaped praise on Manchester United target Zlatan Ibrahimovic amid reports linking Bayern Munich with a move for the Sweden international.
The Red Devils were clear favourites to sign the 34-year-old centre-forward but the towering Swede is remaining coy on his future beyond Euro 2016.
Ibrahimovic was unable to inspire Sweden to victory in their opening two European championship games after a 1-1 draw with the Republic of Ireland and a 1-0 loss to Italy.
The Swedish forward called time on his Paris Saint-Germain career in May after a fourth successive Ligue 1 title with the French capital’s club.
Bayern manager Ancelotti lavished praise on the striker after having worked with Ibrahimovic during his spell in charge of PSG.
“I know that he is 34 years old but anyone who has ever worked closely with footballers – and knows a thing or two about their fitness and their stamina – can see that Ibra is not your typical 34-year-old,” Ancelotti is quoted as saying by Daily Telegraph.
“When he says that he is getting better, he means it. He’s certainly better than any 34-year-old footballer I know.”
Ibrahimovic scored an incredible 113 goals in 122 Ligue 1 appearances for the French champions during a four-year stay in Paris.
Louis van Gaal’s United finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last term.
