Man United boost as Chelsea end interest in £50m striker – report
Chelsea are expected to end their interest in Romelu Lukaku and leave Man United as favourites to sign the Belgian
Manchester United are favourites to sign Romelu Lukaku after Chelsea turned their attention to the striker’s compatriot Michy Batshuayi, according to the Daily Star.
The Blues were thought to be keen on re-signing their former centre-forward in a deal potentially worth £50m from Premier League rivals Everton in the summer transfer window.
Arsenal and United have also been linked with Belgium’s first-choice striker, while Serie A champions were also named as candidates to lure Lukaku to Turin this summer.
However, Chelsea are reported to be on the verge of signing Lukaku’s Euro 2016 team-mate Batshuayi in a £30m deal from Ligue 1 side Marseille.
According to the Daily Star, the Blues will end their interest in Lukaku if a deal for Batshuayi is completed which would leave the path open for United to land the Everton striker.
