Man United boost as Real Madrid end interest in £25m Spain star – report
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez ends their interest in Man United goalkeeper David De Gea, according to reports
Real Madrid have ended their pursuit of Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea, according to Daily Express.
The Spain international has been a long-term target for the 11-time European champions as De Gea won a record three successive United player of the year awards.
The 25-year-old came close to joining Los Blancos in a £25m deal last summer but the Spanish shot stopper’s proposed move fell through on the final day of La Liga’s deadline.
United appointed outspoken ex-Madrid manager Jose Mourinho as Louis van Gaal’s successor last month following a fifth-place finish in the Premier League table.
According to Daily Express, Madrid president Florentino Perez has called an end to their pursuit of the United number one in what is a huge boost for new Red Devils boss Mourinho.
De Gea is currently on international duty with Spain as the defending European champions won back-to-back group games.
