Man United clear favourites to make Argentina star Mourinho’s second signing

Manchester United have been installed as the clear favourites to sign Ezequiel Garay from Zenit Saint Petersburg this summer, according to bookmakers BetStars.

The Red Devils have been linked with a host of new players in recent weeks as Jose Mourinho looks to bolster his squad ahead of his first campaign in charge at Old Trafford.

Mourinho has already moved quickly to strengthen his defensive options at the club after bringing in Eric Bailly from Villarreal earlier this month.

However, it appears that the Manchester United boss is still on the lookout for further defensive reinforcements, if the latest odds are anything to go by.

Argentina international Garay – who has also been touted as a target for Arsenal this summer – is now priced at just 15/8 to secure a transfer to Manchester United.

United’s Premier League rivals Arsenal, meanwhile, are currently priced as the 9/4 favourites to sign Garay from Zenit in the summer transfer window.

“Ezequiel Garay has been impressing at Zenit St Petersburg for the past two seasons and could be the perfect fit as Jose looks to bring in defensive reinforcements,” said Ian Marmion, trading director at BetStars.

“After heavy backing in the last 24 hours, Manchester United are now the clear favourite for his signature at 15/8.

“We’re calling it – expect to see Garay at Old Trafford next season.”
