Man United join Chelsea in race to sign defender – report

Manchester United are prepared to rival Chelsea in the race to sign Leonardo Bonucci from Juventus, say reports

Manchester United are set to rival Chelsea in the race to sign Leonardo Bonucci from Juventus this summer, according to reports.

The Red Devils are yet to make any new signings since Jose Mourinho’s appointment as the club’s new manager last month.

One of Mourinho’s priorities in the summer transfer window is understood to be strengthening United’s defensive line.

Now, Italian publication La Stampa is reporting that Manchester United are firmly in the race to sign Bonucci from Juventus this summer as Mourinho bids to add experience to his back-line at Old Trafford.

The same report goes on to say that incoming Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is a long-term admirer of Bonucci and would like to bring him to Stamford Bridge this summer.
