Man United legend tells Jose Mourinho to spend £40m on this player

Gary Pallister wants to see John Stones move to Manchester United

Gary Pallister has told Jose Mourinho to line up a summer transfer swoop to sign John Stones from Everton.

Jose Mourinho is believed to be a long-term admirer of the England international after the Portuguese coach failed in his attempts to lure him to Chelsea last summer.

Mourinho has been appointed as United’s new manager on a three-year contract and is believed to be on the lookout for defensive reinforcements as he looks to revamp his squad ahead of next season.

The Red Devils are yet to sign any players since Mourinho’s appointment as the club’s new manager.

However, former United man Pallister feels that the Red Devils should be directing their attentions towards trying to sign Stones from Everton in the coming weeks.

Pallister is quoted as saying by The Sun: “He’s a young kid but I like what I see of him. There’s not many better judges than Jose Mourinho.

“If he bid £40m for him, like he did last summer, then you know the kid is an exciting talent. He’s a player I’m sure he will look to bring into Old Trafford.

“It wouldn’t be surprising to see Jose go out and spend big on a centre-half.”
