Man United reach £31m deal for Jose Mourinho’s first signing – report
Manchester United are close to completing the signing of defender Eric Bailly from Villarreal, say reports
Manchester United are set to conclude a £31m deal to sign defender Eric Bailly from Villarreal, according to reports in Spain.
The Red Devils have been heavily linked with a host of players since Mourinho’s arrival at the club on a three-year contract last month.
Mourinho is believed to be on the lookout for some defensive reinforcements as he prepares for his first season in charge at Old Trafford.
Now, Spanish newspaper AS is reporting that the Red Devils have struck a deal worth €40m to bring Ivory Coast defender Bailly to the club.
The same report goes on to say that both Manchester City and Leicester City both showed an interest in bringing the player to the Premier League.
However, United appear to have won the race for his signature as Mourinho moves quickly to bolster his defensive options at Old Trafford.
United finished fifth in the Premier League under Louis van Gaal last season.
