Man United suffer blow after Schalke rule out £40m striker transfer – report
Schalke rule out Leroy Sane leaving this summer amid interest from Manchester City and Manchester United
Manchester United have been dealt a transfer blow after Schalke sporting director Christian Heidel ruled out Leroy Sane leaving the club in this summer’s transfer window.
The Germany international has been on the radar of some of the Premier League’s big clubs over the past couple of months, previously being linked with Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.
However, Manchester City and their derby rivals United have been touted as serious contenders to sign the 20-year-old forward as Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho look to strengthen their respective squads.
But Schalke chief Heidel has ruled out the prospect of Sane leaving the Bundesliga club in the summer transfer window despite talk of a £40m bid from City and United.
“The story is incorrect, nothing has changed with Leroy Sane,” Heidel is quoted as saying by talkSPORT.
Sane scored eight goals and made six assists in 33 Bundesliga appearances for Schalke in the Bundesliga last term.
United finished in fifth place and behind City on goal difference in the Premier League table.
