Man United suffer blow in race to sign £30m midfielder
Juventus are closing in on Manchester United target Miralem Pjanic, according to reports
Manchester United have missed out on highly-rated Miralem Pjanic after the midfielder confirmed his transfer to Juventus on Monday afternoon.
The Bosnia international has been a long-term target for a host of Premier League clubs in recent months, including Chelsea, Liverpool and United.
Pjanic played a key role in Roma’s season after a return of 10 goals and 12 assists in 33 Serie A appearances for the capital club last term.
Liverpool were thought to be close to signing the 27-year-old last summer after ex-manager Brendan Rodgers was photographed in the Eternal city.
United were reported to be leading the Premier League interest this year, with Chelsea manager Antonio Conte also thought to be an admirer.
However, the Bosnia-Herzegovina international posted a photo of his new shirt on Instagram after the midfielder completed his big-money move to Juventus.
Pjanic posted the above photo on his Instagram page: “◼◻◼🏆💪🏻#FirstNeverFollows #ACE16 #FinoAllaFine”
Pjanic netted 14 goals and made 13 assists in 44 games in all competitions for Roma last season.
