Man United suffer setback in pursuit of star striker – report

Manchester United's hopes of signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic have taken a blow, say reports in Germany

Manchester United’s hopes of signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic this summer have suffered a setback amid reports that Bayern Munich have opened talks about signing the forward.

It had been thought that the Sweden international was all but set to join the Red Devils in the summer transfer window after he left Paris Saint-Germain at the end of last season.

Ibrahimovic is currently on duty with Sweden at Euro 2016 but it has been fully expected for the striker to move to Old Trafford this summer.

However, German newspaper Bild is now reporting that Bayern Munich have opened talks with the striker about luring him to the Bundesliga this summer.

Ibrahimovic – who worked under Ancelotti at PSG – is available on a free transfer this summer and has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League.

The same report says that Bayern Munich boss Carlo Ancelotti is worried that his side could lose Robert Lewandowski to Real Madrid this summer and is already on the lookout for potential replacements.
