Midfielder could be Jose Mourinho’s second Man United signing – report

Manchester United are pondering a bid to bring Afriyie Acquah to Old Trafford this summer, say reports

Manchester United are pondering a surprise move to sign Torino midfielder Afriyie Acquah this summer, according to reports.

The Red Devils have been linked with a host of players in recent days as Jose Mourinho prepares for his first full season in charge at Old Trafford.

United have already completed their first signing of the Portuguese coach’s reign by bringing in defender Eric Baially from Villarreal last week.

Mourinho also moved quickly to tie veteran midfielder Michael Carrick down to a new one-year contract at Old Trafford.

Now, the Daily Star is reporting that United are weighing up a move to sign Ghana international Acquah as an alternative should the Red Devils miss out on bringing in Nemanja Matic from Chelsea.

The same report says that United are prepared to make a move for Acquah should their interest in Matic fail to result in a transfer.
