Neil Lennon makes bold claim about new Arsenal signing
Neil Lennon likens Granit Xhaka to a certain Premier League midfielder
Neil Lennon says Arsenal’s new signing Granit Xhaka reminds him of Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam.
The Switzerland international became Arsenal’s first signing of the summer transfer window after the Gunners agreed a reported £33m deal with Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach last month.
The 23-year-old signed a five-year deal with the north London side after he sealed his big-money move to the Premier League following months of transfer speculation.
Xhaka has started all three of Switzerland’s Euro 2016 games so far, completing all three of their fixtures against Albania, Romania and hosts France.
However, former Celtic manager Lennon isn’t too impressed with Wenger’s new signing after a rather unfavourable comparison to Scotland international Adam.
“Not that impressed,” Lennon told BBC Radio Five Live.
“He’s OK. He reminds me of Charlie Adam.”
Xhaka has scored three goals and has made one assist in 28 Bundesliga appearances for Monchengladbach last season.
Arsenal finished in second place in the Premier League table last term.
