New Chelsea signing could be handed four-year contract – report
Alexandre Pato could still stay at Chelsea beyond the summer, according to his agent
Alexandre Pato could be handed a four-year contract to stay at Chelsea beyond the summer transfer window, according to the player’s agent.
The Brazilian forward joined the west London club on loan from Corinthians until the end of the season back in January but made just two appearances for Guus Hiddink’s men.
Pato has inevitably been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge in recent weeks – but the player’s agent says that the 26-year-old striker could still have a future at the west London side.
Gilmar Veloz is quoted as saying by the Daily Express: “[I hear] Pato’s already agreed deals with Internacional, Sao Paulo, Palmeiras, Flamengo. But how is he going to sign for someone else when he has a contract at Chelsea until the 30th?
“He has a document there with a four-year contract that Chelsea will exercise if they want.
“I don’t know if they will do that; I’m not Roman Abramovich.
“If they don’t buy him, it will be up to Corinthians to decide what to do. Pato is on holiday, waiting to find out his future.”
Chelsea are thought to be closing in on the signing of Belgium striker Michy Batshuayi in a deal worth around £33m as Antonio Conte prepares for his first season in charge at Chelsea.
The Blues opted to appoint the Italian as the club’s new manager after Jose Mourinho’s sacking back in December, and he will officially take over after Euro 2016.
