New Liverpool signing to be one of club’s top earners – report

Joel Matip will earn £110,000 a week at Liverpool next season, according to reports

Joel Matip will earn a staggering £110,000 a week at Liverpool from next season, according to reports.

The 24-year-old is set to link up with his new team-mates at Anfield on June 30 after joining the Reds from Schalke on a free transfer.

The fact that Liverpool did not have to pay a transfer fee to land Matip suggests that the club were more willing to offer the player a bumper pay packet.

Now, the Daily Star is reporting that Matip will be the fourth highest earning player at Liverpool, behind Christian Benteke on £140,000 a week, and James Milner and Daniel Sturridge, both on £120,000 a week.

The same report also states that midfielder Jordan Henderson earns around £100,000 a week, while Roberto Firmino is also on £100,00 a week.

Surprisingly, Philippe Coutinho is said to be the club’s eighth highest earner, on wages of £75,000 a week with the Merseyside outfit.

Jurgen Klopp is believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings as he prepares for his first full season in charge at Anfield.
