Eric Bailly thanks Jose Mourinho for showing the faith to make him his first signing at Manchester United

Eric Bailly has revealed his delight at the trust put in him by Jose Mourinho in making him his first signing as Manchester United manager.

The defender signed a four-year contract with the Red Devils on Wednesday after the Ivory Coast international was confirmed as the club’s first signing of the summer.

Mourinho is believed to be working on a number of deals to bring more new signings to Old Trafford this summer as he prepares for his first full season in charge at the club.

And Bailly has thanked Mourinho for showing the faith in him to make him his first acquisition as United boss.

Speaking in an interview with MUTV, Bailly said: “It is really very special. First and foremost as a young player it’s a real confidence boost that a manager with so much experience of English football has trusted in me by making me his first signing.

“Again it’s all about that settling-in period, hoping that I evolve and progress as a player as quickly as possible to get up to speed in the English league.”
