Olivier Giroud reacts to Arsenal’s transfer move to sign Jamie Vardy

Olivier Giroud is backing Jamie Vardy to be a success at Arsenal next season...

Olivier Giroud has given his seal of approval for Arsenal’s transfer bid to sign Jamie Vardy this summer.

The Gunners are believed to be on the verge of clinching a deal to sign the Leicester City striker as Arsene Wenger bolsters his attacking line-up at Emirates Stadium.

Vardy was one of the Premier League’s standout performers last season and scored 24 goals to help the Foxes win the top flight title under Claudio Ranieri.

Arsenal look to be trying to get their transfer business completed as soon as possible this summer after already concluding a deal to sign Granit Xhaka last month.

And Arsenal striker Giroud believes that the addition of Vardy will help the north London club end their long wait for the Premier League title.

Giroud told Sky Sports News HQ: “As I said in the past I am happy with competition.

“We have always had fantastic strikers at Arsenal and I want the best for this club. Hopefully he [Vardy] is going to help us win this title.

“The boss wanted to sign at least one or two strikers, so I expected a top striker and I think it will benefit the club and hopefully he is going to score a lot of goals like he did at Leicester.”
