Pele: My thoughts on Man United starlet Marcus Rashford

Pele discusses Marcus Rashford's rise to prominence at Manchester United

Pele is backing Marcus Rashford to develop into a top player for both Manchester United and England in the years to come.

The teenager has earned plenty of new admirers since breaking into the Red Devils first team under Louis van Gaal last season.

Rashford has been rewarded for his fine form by Manchester United as he signed a new long-term contract with the club last month.

The 18-year-old has also been named in Roy Hodgson’s final England squad for this summer’s Euro 2016 tournament in France after scoring on his senior debut last month.

And Brazil legend Pele had some words of advice for the Manchester United youngster as he bids to continue his development for both club and country.

Pele is quoted as saying by Metro: “It doesn’t matter about age.

“It is important to be prepared. Never, never, never be afraid. Don’t be afraid.

“In my time I didn’t have so many pressures with the TV, the radio, the communications.

“Now there is a big pressure. But if he has a good support from the team I think he has to have confidence and trust himself.”

Rashford helped United win the FA Cup under Van Gaal last season but the Red Devils missed out on a place in next season’s Champions League as they ended up fifth in the table.
