Peter Beardsley names Liverpool star as one of Euro 2016’s best players
Peter Beardsley claims England and Liverpool midfielder reminds him of him
Peter Beardsley has lavished praise on Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana after the England star’s eye-catching Euro 2016 so far.
The 28-year-old has managed to forget about an inconsistent club campaign for Jurgen Klopp’s Reds side and has been one of Roy Hodgson’s most-consistent players against Russia, Wales and Slovakia.
Lallana has played in all three of England’s group-stage games so far, racking up 223 minutes of Euro 2016 action ahead of their last-16 clash against Iceland on Monday night.
Former England and Liverpool midfielder Beardsley explained why he has been impressed with the former Southampton captain in the European championship in France so far.
“Lallana would be the one for me who has been outstanding. He is similar to the way I played with how he moves the ball and creates goals,” said Beardsley, speaking exclusively to 888sport.
“I really like his energy and his enthusiasm in getting the ball back. Dier has done well but overall Lallana has been our best player and I see a lot of myself in him.”
Lallana scored four goals and has made six assists in 34 Premier League games for the Merseyside outfit last term.
The England midfielder netted a further three goals in the Europa League as Liverpool lost 3-1 to Sevilla in the final.
The England man moved to the Reds in a £25m deal from the Saints in 2014 under Klopp’s predecessor Brendan Rodgers.
