David De Gea has taken to social media to send a heartfelt birthday message to Javier Hernandez after the former Manchester United striker turned 28 on Wednesday.

The pair formed a strong friendship during their time together at Old Trafford before Hernandez left the club after being deemed surplus to requirements by Louis van Gaal.

And Manchester United goalkeeper De Gea was quick to wish his former team-mate all the best on social media on Wednesday.

De Gea shared the picture above of the duo on Instagram and wrote: “Years keep passing by brother! Happy birthday and I hope you celebrate many goals with #Mexico in @copaamericacentenario.”
