David De Gea was feeling in a reflective mood on Tuesday afternoon after Spain’s exit from Euro 2016 at the hands of Italy.

The defending champions were knocked out of the tournament in France after suffering a surprise 2-0 loss to Italy in the last 16 on Monday afternoon.

De Gea had been a regular fixture between the posts for La Roja in France but was unable to prevent his side from crashing out of the tournament.

And he posted the picture above on his personal Instagram account on Tuesday afternoon as he reflected on his side’s defeat.

He shared the photo and wrote: “Losing is part of the sport as well as getting up after a defeat. We’ll come back! #euro2016”

The Spanish goalkeeper will now turn his attentions towards having a summer break before reporting back to Carrington for pre-season training with Manchester United.

De Gea and his United team-mates are preparing for their first season under new manager Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.
