Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard dedicates Instagram message to Marcus Rashford
Jesse Lingard appears confident that Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford can light up Euro 2016.
The 18-year-old Red Devils forward was named in Roy Hodgson’s 23-man squad for this summer’s European championship in France after an incredible 2016 for the teenager so far.
Rashford will join England and United captain Wayne Rooney, Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy, Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane and Liverpool’s injury prone Daniel Sturridge as Hodgson’s attacking options for the summer tournament.
The Red Devils forward scored on his England debut at the weekend after the Three Lions were 2-1 winners against Australia in their pre-tournament friendly at Wembley.
And United midfielder Lingard, who didn’t make the cut for Hodgson’s squad, sent Rashford a message on Instagram following his inclusion in England’s travelling party for the France tournament.
Lingard posted the above photo and wrote on his Instagram page: “Buzzin for the boy @marcusrashford on making the 23 man squad for the euros 👏🏾 you know what to do ⚽️⚽️⚽️#euros”
Rashford started his incredible journey in the Europa League after he scored twice in a 5-1 victory over Danish side FC Midtjylland earlier this season.
Days later, the United teenager scored a double in a 3-2 victory over Arsenal on his Premier League debut at Old Trafford in late February.
As if netting against Arsenal wasn’t enough, Rashford went on to score the winner in a 1-0 victory over their bitter rivals Manchester City in the derby at the Etihad Stadium in March.
Rashford finished his first season in the United side with eight goals in 18 appearances for the 20-time English champions before he netted his first Three Lions goal.
The Red Devils, who appointed Jose Mourinho as their new manager on Friday morning after months of speculation, rewarded Rashford for his excellent form with a new four-year contract last week.
The United centre-forward will follow in the footsteps of Michael Owen, Rooney and Theo Walcott as young exciting English talents being brought to a major tournament. What would the odds be at http://leovegassports.com/sportsbook/football/ and other bookmakers of him scoring at the Euros and making an impact similar to a young Wayne Rooney 12 years ago?
Given how he’s taken the Premier League by storm in key games, he’s worth backing to score for England at the Euros and get them out of a jam
