Roy Keane comments on striker’s proposed transfer to Man United
Roy Keane admits that he is a big fan of Zlatan Ibrahimovic...
Roy Keane has suggested that Zlatan Ibrahimovic could be the next Eric Cantona if he signs for Manchester United this summer.
The Sweden striker has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent days after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expired at the end of last season.
Ibrahimovic is said to favour a move to Old Trafford to link up with Jose Mourinho but there is yet to be any official confirmation of the deal.
The 34-year-old could end up waiting until after his involvement in Euro 2016 before confirming his next club.
However, former United midfielder Keane admits that he is a huge admirer of the veteran striker, who played under Mourinho during his time at Inter Milan.
Keane is quoted as saying by Metro: “Of course he is a good fit for United, he’s a good player.
“They’re big characters, clearly, whatever you say about Cantona, he was a popular lad, and I get the impression Zlatan is the same.
“Whatever about his playing career, you hear from his team-mates and he seems to be a bit of a character, and you can see that in the way he plays.
“It’s good to see that, because there’s a lack of characters out there, and he certainly is that. On top of all that, he’s a very, very good player.”
United completed their first signing of the summer transfer window last week as they wrapped up a deal to bring defender Eric Bailly to the club from Villarreal.
