Stan Collymore delivers verdict on striker’s proposed move to Arsenal

Stan Collymore discusses reports linking Jamie Vardy with a transfer to Arsenal

Stan Collymore believes that Jamie Vardy is just the type of player that Arsenal need to transform themselves into title challengers next season.

The north London club are understood to be on the verge of concluding a deal to sign the Leicester City star after the Gunners reportedly met the £20m release clause in his contract.

Vardy scored 24 goals in the Premier League to help Claudio Ranieri’s men win the title, 10 points ahead of Arsenal last season.

Now, it appears that Arsene Wenger is intent on further bolstering his Arsenal squad as he enters into the final year of his contract at Emirates Stadium.

And former Liverpool man Collymore feels that Vardy will help to take Arsenal to the next level.

Collymore tweeted on Saturday:

Arsenal have already signed Granit Xhaka this summer as Wenger moved quickly to bolster his midfield options at The Emirates.
