Alkmaar striker will make this Tottenham star nervous, claims Dutch forward
Vincent Janssen can make Tottenham striker Harry Kane nervous if he completes Spurs move, says former Dutch forward
Vincent Janssen can put Harry Kane under pressure for a starting spot if the AZ Alkmaar striker completes a £10m move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer, according to former Dutch forward Wim Kieft.
The England forward was the Premier League’s top goal-scorer in the 2015/16 season after a return of 25 goals in 37 top-flight games for Mauricio Pochettino’s north London side.
The Tottenham manager is thought to be on the look out for a new striker in order to bolster his attacking options and ease the workload on the 22-year-old England man ahead of the new season.
Janssen, who has made five appearances for the Netherlands national team, scored 27 of AZ’s 69 goals in the Eredivisie last term and finished as the Dutch top-flight’s leading goal-scorer.
Ex-Dutch forward Kieft believes Janssen should complete a move to Tottenham and vie with Kane for a starting spot in Pochettino’s first-team next season.
“If Janssen has to choose between Ajax and Tottenham, he must go to London,” Kieft is quoted as saying by Squawka.
“Yes, there is Harry Kane. What could be better to try without any pressure as number 12 or 13 to make the great Kane nervous?
“Regardless of the adventure and the financial gains, Janssen can only get better by training with better players every day.”
Tottenham finished in third place in the Premier League table.
