Thierry Henry comments on striker’s proposed transfer to Arsenal
Thierry Henry discusses Jamie Vardy's proposed transfer to Arsenal this summer
Thierry Henry has admitted his shock that Jamie Vardy has not jumped at the chance to join Arsenal from Leicester City this summer.
The 29-year-old striker has been heavily linked with a transfer to The Emirates in recent days after the north London side reportedly triggered the £20m release clause in his contract.
Arsenal are said to have offered Vardy a four-year deal worth as much as £120,000 a week to move to Emirates Stadium.
However, the forward appears to be in no rush to put pen to paper on a deal with Arsenal and is set to wait until after Euro 2016 to make his decision.
Former Arsenal captain Henry cannot believe that Vardy has not made his decision to move to the north London club.
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, Henry said: “He’s 29, right? You have Arsenal coming for you, and you’re telling them you’re going to think about it?
“Listen. All I can say is if I was playing for Leicester and I had Arsenal coming, I would have gone.”
Vardy scored 24 goals for Leicester last season to help fire them to the Premier League title as they finished 10 points ahead of Arsenal.
