This is how Wenger will fit Vardy into Arsenal side, claims Gunners legend

Emmanuel Petit discusses how Arsene Wenger could fit Jamie Vardy into his Arsenal team

Emmanuel Petit believes that Arsene Wenger could be set to deploy Jamie Vardy in a front three along with Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud or Danny Welbeck.

The north London side are believed to be keen to sign the Leicester City striker this summer as Wenger looks to bolster his attacking options at Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal are widely thought to have triggered the £20m release clause in the striker’s contract over the weekend and have offered Vardy a deal said to be worth as much as £120,000 a week.

The latest media reports are suggesting that Vardy will not make a decision about his future until after this summer’s Euro 2016 tournament in France.

However, Petit has issued his thoughts on how he reckons Wenger will fit Vardy into his attacking line-up at Emirates Stadium.

Petit is quoted as saying by Metro: “He was unknown five years ago, now he has won the league, is playing in a major international tournament and Arsenal want to buy him. Wow, what an incredible story that is.

“Maybe Arsene wants someone to play on the left, with [Alexis] Sanchez on the right. With [Olivier] Giroud and [Danny] Welbeck it would be difficult to play him down the middle, so I suspect he wants him on the left.

“Arsene’s problem is he has had so many players out injured for so long. Vardy is not often injured. He will be available. And he is a late starter, so he is hungry. He’s a good addition to the team.”
