Toby Alderweireld hopes £20m striker completes Tottenham transfer
Toby Alderweirweld explains why he is a big fan of Tottenham Hotspur target Michy Batshuayi
Toby Alderweireld says he is hoping that Belgium striker Michy Batshuayi will join Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
The Marseille striker has been heavily linked a move away from the Ligue 1 side this summer amid interest from a number of Premier League clubs.
Tottenham and West Ham are thought to be heading interest from England as Mauricio Pochettino and Slaven Bilic look to strengthen their squads.
However, the Premier League duo face competition for the striker’s signature after Serie A champions Juventus entered the race to sign the Belgian forward.
But Tottenham centre-half Alderweireld is optimistic that Marseille forward Batshuayi will opt to join the White Hart Lane outfit this summer.
“Do I hope Batshuayi comes to Tottenham? Yes of course,” Alderweireld is quoted as saying by London Evening Standard.
“He has a lot of qualities. The problem of course is that at that position Tottenham already has Harry Kane, while there is a lot of interest for Batshuayi [from other clubs].”
The 22-year-old scored on his first appearance at Euro 2016 so far as the Tottenham target came off the bench to net Belgium’s second goal in a 4-0 victory over Hungary.
