Victor Wanyama drops massive Tottenham transfer hint
Tottenham target Victor Wanyama wants to play in Champions League next season
Victor Wanyama has appeared to have dropped a massive hint that a move to Tottenham Hotspur is on the cards.
Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has been heavily linked with a move for the Kenya international since the Argentinian swapped Southampton for White Hart Lane in 2014.
The Lilywhites attempted to sign the defensive midfielder last summer but the Saints managed to resist interest from Spurs and keep hold of their talismanic midfielder.
However, Southampton suffered a blow earlier this week after Ronald Koeman was appointed as Everton’s new manager, which could lead to some of their key players seeking a change of club, too.
Premier League champions Leicester City are also thought to be interested in signing the Saints star as Claudio Ranieri prepares to lose N’Golo Kante this summer.
However, Tottenham appear to be closing in on Wanyama, who has made no secret of his desire to play against Europe’s elite in the Champions League next season.
“It’s always a tough moment leaving a club that you are so much used to their tradition and fans but again it’s always the dream of any footballer to play at the very top level like the Champions League,” Wanyama told Kenyan media outlet Soka25East.
“I will definitely miss the awesome Southampton fans who always showed me love and I know they will fully understand my decision.”
Tottenham finished in third place in the Premier League table last season.
