Wonderkid rejects transfer to Arsenal, Chelsea – report

Arsenal and Chelsea target Abel Ruiz is set to sign a new contract with Barcelona, according to reports in Spain

Arsenal and Chelsea have been dealt a blow after wonderkid Abel Ruiz committed his future to Barcelona, according to reports in Spain.

The 16-year-old forward was attracting interest from the Premier League with big clubs such as Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City all showing an interest in the highly-rated prospect.

Arsenal were thought to have made a bid for the Barcelona teenager in January, while the Spanish club’s former manager Pep Guardiola was reported to be keen to bring Ruiz to the Etihad Stadium.

According to a report in the Daily Express, Ruiz is set to sign a new three-year deal with the La Liga champions and continue his progression at the Catalan side despite the lure of the Premier League.
