AC Milan to rival Liverpool for Poland’s Euro 2016 midfielder – report
Udinese confirm that AC Milan are also interested in Piotr Zielinski amid interest from Liverpool and Napoli
Udinese have confirmed that AC Milan are also interested Piotr Zielinski amid reports linking the Poland midfielder with a move to Liverpool.
The Reds have been touted as potential contenders to sign the Udinese star since the 2015/16 Premier League season reached its conclusion.
Napoli were also reported to be interested in the 22-year-old Polish man as the Serie A runners-up look to strengthen their squad.
According to The Daily Mail, Udinese have rejected a £9.2m offer from Liverpool for the Poland midfielder earlier this week.
And Udinese director of sport Nereo Bonato revealed that Napoli have agreed a deal with their Serie A rivals but are yet to finalise personal terms with Zielinski, while Milan are also interested in the midfielder.
“We have a formal agreement with Napoli that could not be taken to its completion because the lad has not yet agreed personal terms with the club,” Udinese director of sport Nereo Bonato told MilanNews.it.
“Milan are probably interested, but aside from making enquiries in a friendly chat, they have not made any further steps forward.”
Liverpool have already signed Germany and Mainz goalkeeper Loris Karius plus Southampton midfielder Sadio Mane in the summer transfer window.
Zielinski scored five goals and made four assists in 35 Serie A appearances for Empoli during a season-long loan from Empoli last term.
