Ander Herrera gushes with praise for his Man United team-mate

Ander Herrera describes Luke Shaw as one of the best left-backs in the world

Ander Herrera has described Luke Shaw as one of the best left-backs in the world as the defender continues his return to full fitness at Manchester United.

The defender is currently working hard on his fitness levels as he bids to return to the peak of his game following his horror leg break last season.

Shaw missed most of United’s season due to the injury but has been stepping up his recovery in recent weeks at the club under new manager Jose Mourinho.

And although Herrera admits that Shaw will clearly be lacking some match sharpness in the coming weeks and months, he is certain that he will get back to his best for Mourinho’s men.

Speaking in an interview with MUTV, Herrera said of Shaw: “He has played for 90 minutes after 10 months without playing.

“You can see he is very, very quick and sometimes when you are not used to getting the ball at your feet then you can make some mistakes, but what we want from Luke is that he gets to the last line to make some crosses and he is doing that.

“We are very happy with him and we are very happy for him because it has been very tough for him. We have one of the best left-backs in the world and we have to take advantage of him.”

United finished fifth in the Premier League table and won the FA Cup under Louis van Gaal last season.
