Argentina striker’s agent provides Arsenal transfer update
Mauro Icardi's wife confirms interest from Juventus and Napoli amid reports of Arsenal interest
Mauro Icardi’s agent has confirmed that the Inter Milan star is being chased by Juventus and Napoli amid reports that Arsenal want the Argentina international.
Wanda Nara, who is also Icardi’s wife, has previously confirmed Arsenal’s interest in the South American amid ongoing negotiations with Inter over a new contract.
The 23-year-old was handed the Inter captaincy at the start of the 2015/16 season following an impressive start to his career at the San Siro.
Icardi scored 16 times in 29 Serie A appearances for the Inter last season as the Nerazzurri finished in fourth place in Serie A just outside the Champions League spots.
Now, Nara has confirmed that Serie A champions Juventus and runners-up Napoli both are interested in the Inter skipper, which will come as a possible blow to Arsenal’s hopes of landing the striker.
“We’re working to adapt Mauro’s contract, but we still have to wait. It won’t take long to get to the point, I think in 7-10 days the picture will be clearer,” Nara told FC Inter News.
“For our part we’d like to continue the work which was begun a year ago and then interrupted. Right now our intention isn’t to renew the contract, we just want to see him on the right financial level.
Nara added: “Can I confirm Napoli and Juventus interest? Yes, the teams that would like him are those that you all know at this point.
“Will he stay? That’s a question for Mauro, I want him to stay because we’re happy in Milan but you’d have to ask him that question. He wants to stay, because he loves these colours.”
Icardi has netted 47 times in 88 games in Serie A for Inter following his move to the San Siro from Sampdoria in 2013.
The Argentinian forward came through the Barcelona academy before moving to Sampdoria in 2011.
