Arsenal £29m transfer bid for star striker rejected, club confirms
Arsenal have tabled a £29m bid to sign Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon this summer, the French club confirms
Lyon have confirmed that they have rejected a £29m bid for Alexandre Lacazette from Arsenal in the summer transfer window via an official statement from the club.
The Gunners have been heavily linked with a number of strikers in the summer transfer window but Arsene Wenger is yet to land the big-name signing that so many Arsenal fans are praying for.
Now, the Ligue 1 club have confirmed that the Gunners have submitted an offer of €35m (£29m) for the player – but the French side have rejected the advance.
Lyon issued a statement on the club’s official Twitter feed insisting that they have no intention of selling their star player in the summer transfer window.
It remains to be seen whether Arsenal will return with an improved offer to sign the France international striker.
Wenger is clearly determined to strengthen his attacking options this summer, with the bid for Lacazette following his failed attempts to lure Jamie Vardy to the club earlier in the transfer window.
