Arsenal legend wishes new Man United signing luck at Old Trafford
Patrick Vieira describes Zlatan Ibrahimovic as a top signing for Manchester United
Patrick Vieira has described Zlatan Ibrahimovic as a “very good signing” for Manchester United this summer.
The Sweden striker confirmed on Thursday that he would be joining the Red Devils on a free transfer this summer after weeks of speculation about his future following his exit from Paris Saint-Germain.
Ibrahimovic was linked with a number of Europe’s top clubs before settling on a move to link up with Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford this summer and signing his contract on Friday.
Former Arsenal captain Vieira has admitted that he is a keen admirer of the 34-year-old forward and considers him to be a close friend.
Vieira is quoted as saying by FourFourTwo: “He is a good friend of mine and we spent time together at Juventus and at Inter.
“We are still in touch once in a while and we have massive respect for each other.
“What I really like about him is his character – he is a winner, a guy who can drive the team because of his character and that is a very good signing for Manchester United.
“I spoke to him this morning – he said that he decided to go to United and he believes that is a very good decision for him. Of course I will wish him good luck and I will be following him.”
United are currently preparing for Mourinho’s first season in charge at Old Trafford after he signed a three-year contract with the Red Devils to become Jose Mourinho’s successor last month.
The Red Devils opted to sack Louis van Gaal after their fifth-placed finish in the Premier League last season.
Van Gaal led the club to FA Cup glory in his final game in charge.
