The Gunners have been linked with a host of players in recent weeks but have thus far only completed the signings of midfielder Granit Xhaka and forward Takuma Asano.

Arsene Wenger has already signalled his intention to bolster his strikeforce at The Emirates with the club’s failed bid to sign Jamie Vardy from Leicester City.

The Daily Telegraph earlier this week reported that Arsenal are keen on signing France international Lacazette this summer.

Now, bookmakers BetStars have reported that they have seen heavy backing for Arsenal to sign the striker in recent days.

The bookmaker states that Lacazette has now shortened to odds of at 1/2 to sign for Arsenal, having been 12/5 at the start of the week.

Ian Marmion, trading director at BetStars, said in a news release sent to The Sport Review: “Arsenal love a Frenchman and have been leading the market for Alexandre Lacazette throughout the summer, but in the last 24 hours the market movement suggests a deal is imminent.

Alexandre Lacazette’s next club: Odds

Arsenal – 1/2
PSG – 7/2
Tottenham – 4/1
West Ham – 5/1
Real Madrid – 8/1

“After heavy backing overnight, Arsenal have now shortened drastically to odds-on at 1/2 to secure the striker’s signature, having been 12/5 at the beginning of the week. We’ve called it – expect to see Lacazette in an Arsenal shirt next season.”

Arsenal finished in second place in the Premier League table last season, 10 points behind champions Leicester City.
