Arsenal to offer Arsene Wenger a new deal beyond next season – report
Arsenal are prepared to offer Arsene Wenger a new contract beyond next season, say reports
Arsenal are ready to offer Arsene Wenger a contract extension to keep him in charge at The Emirates beyond next summer, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Express is reporting that the north London side are prepared to offer the Frenchman a new deal to ward off any interest from the Football Association in making Wenger the next England manager.
Wenger’s current deal is set to expire at the end of next season and the Frenchman has found himself under pressure at The Emirates in recent seasons, with the club having endured a disappointing trophyless campaign last term.
The same report says that FA officials have identified Wenger as a potential candidate to take over from Roy Hodgson as England boss.
The story says that the Gunners are set to open talks with Wenger about a new deal as the Frenchman approaches the last year of his three-year contract with the club.
Arsenal have been linked with a host of players in the summer transfer window but have thus far only signed midfielder Granit Xhaka.
