Arsenal will have to pay £80m for their top striker target – report
Arsenal face competition from Juventus to sign Gonzalo Higuain from Napoli, who are demanding £80m for the player, say reports
Arsenal have been told that they will have to shell out a transfer fee of £80m if they want to sign Gonzalo Higuain from Napoli this summer, according to reports in Italy.
La Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that the Napoli president is demanding a transfer fee of €94.5m for the Argentina striker this summer, with Serie A champions Juventus now also said to be interested in signing the player.
Arsenal have long been linked with a move to sign the prolific Argentina forward but it now appears that the north London club face competition from Serie A champions Juventus in the race for Higuain’s signature.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has signalled his intention to sign a new striker in the summer transfer window with the club’s failed bid to land Jamie Vardy from Leicester City.
Despite being linked with a host of players this summer, the Gunners have thus far only signed midfielder Granit Xhaka and striker Takuma Asano.
Arsenal finished in second place in the Premier League last season.
