Arsenal’s transfer bid for Lille star accepted, claims insider
Arsenal had a transfer bid for Djibril Sidibe accepted by Lille, says Emaneuele Giulianelli
Arsenal had a transfer bid for Djibril Sidibe accepted by Lille before he signed for Monaco on Friday, according to Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli.
The north London side are believed to be on the lookout for defensive reinforcements as Arsene Wenger bids to revamp his squad ahead of next season.
Despite plenty of speculation linking Arsenal with a host of players in the summer transfer window, the Gunners have thus far only signed midfielder Granit Xhaka and striker Takumo Asamo.
Now, Italian journalist Giulianelli has claimed that Arsenal had a bid for 23-year-old defender Sidibe accepted by Lille, before the player opted to join Monaco.

Shortly after his tweet, however, Monaco confirmed a deal to sign Sidibe on Friday night, meaning Arsenal will have to look elsewhere for defensive reinforcements.
Arsenal finished second in the Premier League last season, 10 points behind eventual champions Leicester City in the table.
The north London side begun their preparations for the new season this week at London Colney as the 2016-17 campaign draws ever nearer.
