Arsene Wenger lifts lid on recent chat with Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger recently caught up with Mesut Ozil at Euro 2016
Arsene Wenger has revealed that he had a brief conversation with Mesut Ozil after France’s Euro 2016 semi-final victory over Germany earlier this month.
The Arsenal playmaker was unable to prevent his country from crashing out of the tournament as they suffered a 2-0 loss at the hands of the hosts.
Ozil has now jetted off to the United States to enjoy a summer holiday before he prepares for a return to Arsenal to begin his preparations for the new season.
And Wenger has revealed that he caught up with the 27-year-old following the disappointment of Germany’s exit from the tournament.
Wenger told Arsenal Player: “The French players, Giroud and Koscielny, had a good tournament [even if] they didn’t finish as well as they hoped.
“I think Ozil had a good tournament as well. I met him after the game with France, he was of course very disappointed but most of them had good performances.”
Ozil joined Arsenal from Real Madrid in the summer of 2013 and won the FA Cup in his first two seasons with the north London club.

However, he had to settle for a trophyless campaign last term as the Gunners ended up in second place in the Premier League table and 10 points behind eventual champions Leicester City.
