Arsene Wenger responds to Alexandre Lacazette Arsenal transfer talk
Arsene Wenger remains coy when quizzed about the latest Arsenal transfer speculation
Arsene Wenger has refused to be drawn into commenting on the transfer speculation linking Arsenal with a summer swoop for Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette.
The Gunners are believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as Wenger prepares his team for the new Premier League season.
Arsenal have thus far only signed Granit Xhaka, Takuma Asano and Rob Holding in the summer transfer window.
Wenger is thought to be on the lookout for a new striker as he bids to bolster his squad ahead of next season.
The north London side tried and failed to sign Jamie Vardy from Leicester City before Euro 2016.
Arsenal have also been linked with moves for Arda Turan and Mauro Icardi in recent weeks.
However, the Arsenal boss was giving nothing away when quizzed about his transfer dealings on Friday.
Asked directly by reporters about Lacazette, Turan and Icardi, Wenger told his post-match news conference in Lens on Friday night: “I wouldn’t like to come out on names because if you don’t get them afterwards, people ask why.
“We are active, very active every day and it’s not over. Today we are on 22 July and the transfer market finishes on 31 August.
“You know that a lot happens in the last week, so it’s a long time to go, but we are active and we are working.”
