The Belgium international signed a five-year deal with the west London side after Chelsea reportedly agreed a £33m deal to sign the striker from Ligue 1 side Marseille.

Batshuayi becomes the first signing of the Antonio Conte era after Guus Hiddink’s interim reign came to an end following the conclusion of the 2015/16 Premier League season.

The 22-year-old scored 17 times in 34 Ligue 1 games for l’OM last season, attracting interest from Chelsea’s Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United.

And Spanish defender Azpilicueta was delighted to welcome another ex-Marseille player to Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon, posting a message for the new signing on Twitter.

Brazil midfielder Oscar followed Azpilicueta’s lead despite Batshuayi’s arrival meaning more competition for a starting spot in Conte’s Chelsea side next season.

Chelsea finished in ninth place in the Premier League last season just 12 months after Jose Mourinho led the west London side to their fourth top-flight crown since 1992.
