The north London side are believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as Arsene Wenger bids to revamp his squad ahead of next season.

According to reports in Germany, Serbia international Subotic has been given the green light to talk to other clubs in the current transfer window.

Now, Italian reporter Giulianelli has taken to Twitter to claim that Arsenal are edging closer towards securing the services of the defender in the summer transfer window.

He tweeted:

Arsenal have been linked with a host of players in recent weeks but have thus far only signed midfielder Granit Xhaka and striker Takuma Asano.

The north London club – who have not won the title since 2003-04 – finished in second place in the Premier League table last season, 10 points behind champions Leicester City.
