Chelsea blow as Belgium star reveals his future plans – report
Radja Nainggolan has indicated his desire to stay at AS Roma beyond the summer transfer window
Chelsea have suffered a blow in their reported pursuit of Radja Nainggolan after the Belgium midfielder indicated his desire to stay at AS Roma beyond the summer transfer window.
Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that Nainggolan is set to stay on at the Serie A club beyond the summer after opting to turn down the chance of a transfer to Chelsea.
The Blues are believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings as Antonio Conte prepares for his first season in charge of the west London club.
Chelsea have already signed Nainggolan’s Belgium team-mate Michy Batshuayi on a five-year contract this summer.
However, it appears that he won’t be joined by Nainggolan at Stamford Bridge this year.
Nainggolan told Gazzetta dello Sport: “Everything is calm with [Roma chief Walter] Sabatini.
“Will I stay at Roma? Yes, I’m going to remain here.”
The same newspaper report goes on to say that Nainggolan is currently in the process of negotiating a new contract with Roma this summer.
