Chelsea could make Lazio man Conte’s third signing – report
Chelsea are keen to press ahead with plans to sign Lazio defender Stefan de Vrij, say reports
Chelsea could make a transfer bid for Lazio defender Stefan de Vrij if they fail to sign Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli, according to reports in the British media.
The Sunday People is reporting that the Blues have become frustrated in their pursuit of Koulibaly, who Napoli are now said to be demanding a transfer fee of £45m for.
The same report claims that Chelsea have been in talks with Napoli over the prospect of signing Koulibaly but are losing patience in the discussions, with the player having also been linked with Everton.
The story says that Chelsea are set to turn their attentions to Lazio defender De Vrij, who could be available for a much smaller transfer fee of £15m.
The report goes on to say that Chelsea are ready to quickly ramp up their interested in De Vrij to push through a transfer as soon as possible.
Antonio Conte has been busy since his official arrival as Chelsea’s manager this summer.
The Italian has already signed striker Michy Batshuayi and midfielder N’Golo Kante as he prepares for his first season in the Premier League.
