Chelsea fail in £45m bid for Portugal playmaker – report
Chelsea have failed with a £45m offer for Valencia forward Andre Gomes, according to Mundo Deportivo
Chelsea have seen their £45m (€53m) offer for Andre Gomes knocked back by Valencia, according to Mundo Deportivo journalist Miguel Rico.
The same report claims that Chelsea and Juventus have both had bids rejected for the Los Che forward as Barcelona continue to monitor the situation for the £47m (€55m) Portuguese winger.
The Blues were one of a number of Premier League clubs thought to be interested in the Portugal international as the Valencia star continues to impress for his national team at the European championship.
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has already signed Belgium and Marseille striker Michy Batshuayi in a big-money deal this summer, with the Blues linked with a number of other players.
According to Rico’s report in Mundo Deportivo, Chelsea have already failed with a £45m (€53m) offer for the 22-year-old Portugal international amid interest from a host of top European clubs.
Gomes scored three goals and made three assists in 30 La Liga appearances for Valencia in 2015/16 season.
The Blues are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2016/17 Premier League campaign following Conte’s appointment as their new permanent manager.
